Trineo

Adaptable Delivery Playbook.

Problem

So many of Trineo’s processes and best-practices reside in the brains of its leadership and staff but are not fully documented. Of the documents that do exist, they’re not formatted or organized in a consistent way. This means that when information needs to be shared or a new client needs to be on-boarded, it’s done in an ad hoc fashion.

This is a problem not unique to Trineo and there are broader lessons to be learned from this endeavor.

How Might We…

…develop a tool that will enable Trineo to define, organize, and share processes and best-practices?

…enable internal teams to contribute to this platform as well as take advantage of it?

Approach

  • Run a stakeholder workshop - define use cases and goals.

  • Conduct comparative research - How are other playbooks organized and consumed? What are some tangentially relevant products to compare?

  • Outline the paradigm. Wireframe the user flow. Share with stakeholders.

  • Prototype. Test with users.

American Football –

Down by 6 points in the fourth quarter? Starting on the opposing team’s 30 yard line? The playbook contains hundreds of plays which worked well in the past and can help the team win the game again. “Coach, which play do we run?”

Adaptable Delivery Playbook -

The goal was to develop a tool or method that would help our company, Trineo, define our best practices in running projects and adapting to change. A Playbook would allow for those best practices, or plays, to be captured, refined, and repeated.

No more reinventing the wheel with each new engagement. Just pull out the Playbook.

Content. Where to start?

We were the design team so, naturally, we started with the ‘Design Process Playbook’.

Full.jpg

How it Works –

This tool describes any process - the design process in this case - from a broad view while allowing users to drill down to the step-by-step details of a play.

Additionally it’s a tool that enables users to compile a customized Playbook for a particular engagement.

Discovery Phase: Select or Preview Plays

Play Preview

Customize it –

As well, we envisioned a ‘Playbook Builder’ that works from a library of pre-made Plays.

Print it –

Of course, once you’ve built your custom Playbook, you can generate a PDF, then print it or share it.

Education –

Because the tool is a source of knowledge, it is important that it be a resource for further study. Below: the education bridge-page.
